The place for e-diggin'.

About

Source Material is a music education website especially designed for e-Diggin’. Dig here for music like you would dig in a music store!

The Backstory of Source Material
There are three reasons why my son, Amir Ali Said, and I created Source Material: (1) My desire to help those who want to dig for records, especially those who do not have access to vinyl record stores and those who may need in help in what to look for or; (2) to expand upon the MusicStudy features regularly found on BeatTips; and (3) My son and I wanted to find new ways to connect around and talk about music.

Over the past decade or so, the sheer number of shops that offer vinyl records has dwindled rapidly. This means that in today’s music climate, access to vinyl records is more difficult than ever before. However, because of the advent internet music and video streaming sites, access to music itself has never been better than before. But with a truly infinite resource of “new” music to be discovered, where do today’s beatmakers, many of which who’ve had little to know access to vinyl records, begin there search?

That’s where Source Material comes in!

I believe that a central e-Diggin’ location where people can come to dig — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — offers a tremendous opportunity. For those new to diggin, Source Material offers an excellent entry point to “unknown” music; and it provides much needed direction for those anxious to discover “new” music. For veteran diggers and those who have long been enthusiastic about searching for older, often rare music, Source Material serves as a virtual niche record shop in which they can get lost in the possibilities. But for the new and old digger alike, as well as music fans interested discovering “new” old music, Source Material serves as an infinite gateway to untapped musical knowledge.
